If it’s true that everyone leaves their mark in the place they feel most at home in, then the Vicenza area can add two great artists of the Veneto-region cuisine to its surrounding hills: the Portinari brothers. Chef Nicola and dining-room master Pierluigi have spent more than thirty years taking fine local products to the heights and arousing outstandingly emphatic emotions. La Peca is a place suspended between past and future: its name, in fact, means “print”, like the footprints that chicken thieves used to leave on the hill that is today home to the restaurant and the marks that the creative duo aim to impress on future food hospitality. Nicola blends tenacity, intelligence and sensitivity in order to create cerebral dishes, tinged with echoes that come from across the borders. The sequence of continuous contrasts and nuances on this path of taste can surprise and bewitch without wearying, as the creations revolve around balance and digestibility. In the kitchen there is no lack of excellent fish from the Adriatic, or fine, naturally-produced meats and a patisserie that helps to blend sweet and savoury to perfection. The futuristic design of the dining room, interpreted by the sensitive artistry of Cinzia Boggian, Pierluigi’s partner, gives one the impression of being immersed in beauty.
