A realm of fine flavours in Abruzzo: it all began in 1977 when Anna d’Andrea, after experiencing life in the Capital’s kitchens, decided it was time to make her dream come true by opening a restaurant in Civitella Casanova. So it was that a shop selling tobacco and salt moved from being a simple eating house to become what it is today: a renowned gourmet restaurant. The chef Marcello Spadone, his wife Bruna, and their son Mattia in the kitchen and the other son Alessio in the dining hall run La Bandiera in a professional yet exquisitely homely manner. Works-of-art by Sandro Visca adorn the walls in the three bright rooms furnished with simplicity and elegance. Only regional raw materials are used that recount the history and ties with the territory, enriched by the first fruits of Bruna’s large herb garden to create unforgettable dishes such as chickling pea and crispy bean soup, Broth of flowers , herbs, roots and small bread ravioli and ArrostiGin. The extensive wine cellar offers the best in local vintages, but it also includes a wide selection of Italian and foreign wines.
