The Caffè Arti e Mestieri is located on two floors of a building inside a courtyard at the end of a crafty alleyway in the historic centre of Reggio Emilia, originally the home of a dialect theatre and now the cradle of Reggio Emilia’s culinary traditions. This is a story about a family with thirty years of star-studded experience within the tapestry of territorial cuisine, reinterpreted in modern style while not forgetting the classical origins. Gianni D’Amato and his son Federico enliven the kitchen with their revisitations of Emilian cuisine, creating new precedents that become the symbols of new dishes and new inspirations for other chefs: a fine example is Erbazzone Contemporaneo; the Cube of boiled meats with an air of Lambrusco and traditional balsamic vinegar; Tagliatella with a sauce of three meats and soft and crispy suckling pig with black garlic, licorice and Cevennes onion. The end of the meal is particularly striking with the “Arte su Arte” dessert, which unfolds all their expressive artistic forms with sophisticated delicacies. Gianni’s wife Fulvia is in the dining room to warmly welcome the diners and select wines from the enormous wine cellar.
