Villa Crespi

Antonino Cannavacciuolo

People move from Naples only when there’s a marvellous place to go to. The temple of love for his wife Cinzia is like a Thousand and One Nights, nestled on the shores of Lake Orta, in a magnificent Arabian resort built at the end of the nineteenth century: this is where Antonino Cannavacciuolo, in the heart of Piedmont, provides his guests with a decidedly Mediterranean cuisine.
The chef combines the techniques he learned over the Alps with the flavours he remembers from home, a refined and luxurious tasting experience, with dishes nothing short of magnificent. The Moorish castle, complete with minarets and arches and studded with golden decorations, has always been a place of love: from that of its founder, Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, who was bewitched by Baghdad during his travels to the Orient and initially called the building Villa Pia, in homage to his wife Pia Travelli. And so, its appeal has been handed down over the centuries without a blemish: for wine lovers it is said that underground tunnels link the Villa’s mammoth cellar with the island of San Giulio and the Tower of Buccione.
