Thinking of a more central position in Milan would be difficult; Carlo Cracco has opened the restaurant that bears his name in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, barely a stone’s throw from the Duomo. Four floors entirely dedicated to taste: the always open bistrot bar, the refined restaurant, the cellar and the luxury space on the top floor. History, elegance and bon ton are matched with Belle Époque mirrors and wallpaper, giving this place the look of a prestigious gourmet salon of the late nineteenth century in the heart of Milan, while the mahogany and zinc counter and the elements of Art Dèco style stand out on the walls covered in moss green metallic yarn. In the menu you really shouldn’t miss the “whole egg” tasting, in which the Marinated yolk egg tagliatelle pasta with artichokes and black truffle stands out; also the Fondant pork snout, shellfish sauce with chilli pepper and golden prawns or the Saffron-flavored rice, grilled marrow and ragout of livers are always a staple, making it easy to deduce Marchesi’s influence of the chef’s formation. Two thousand labels and over ten thousand bottles are the enological heritage of this restaurant that so many people, Italians and foreigners alike, enjoy in a plebiscite of gluttonous delight.
