In the region of Alto Adige, between the beautiful cities of Bolzano and Merano, it’s worth making a slight detour to visit this absolutely amazing family-run restaurant. It’s the result of hard work, passion, love and perseverance by chef Anna Matscher, who in 1987 jumped headlong into cooking and never looked back. She and her husband Alois entirely renovated an old farmhouse that belonged to their family in Tesimo, and turned it into an elegant stone-and-wood restaurant with a modern flair and a touch of uniqueness. Amazing cuisine, expert use of both Mediterranean and international influences, all connected through locally sourced fresh ingredients, where excellence, traceability and transparency are the watchwords. The Matschers maintain a direct connection with farmers. Fresh herbs? They come from their own vegetable garden, Anna’s pride and joy! Her husband, Alois, also gave up his previous profession to pursue their dream, and has become an expert sommelier who now oversees the dining room and wine cellar with his wealth of knowledge, passion and professionalism. Their daughter Elisabeth completes the picture, and shares the passion for wine she inherited from Alois, presenting masterful pairings through which the wine and food outdo one another at every course.
