What happens when a great French chef falls in love with Italy and winds up living in Valtrompia? Perhaps something out of the ordinary, but that’s exactly what happened to Philippe Léveillé, the face and mastermind of Miramonti L’Altro, located in the town of Concesio, in the Northern Italian province of Brescia. Born in Nantes in 1973, Philippe is the son of an oyster farmer. He’s harbored a lifelong passion for cooking, tastes, spices, ingredients. When he arrived in Italy, he realized that for him, the area around Brescia was the perfect place to combine well-being and a career. Miramonti L’Altro is located inside a refurbished 18th-century neoclassical villa, and today it is one of Italy’s most experimental and versatile starred restaurants. Léveillé’s training in Europe, the United States, Africa and the Caribbean is behind his search for playful dishes with the right balance between meat and fish, where French haute cuisine melds with the most authentic Piedmontese mountain traditions.
