The Sorrentine peninsula is full of breathtaking, jaw-dropping views. The climate is mild. The fragrances that fill the air are typically Mediterranean. And enjoying lunch, or diner at sundown, in Marina del Cantone, on the terrace at Quattro Passi, you’ll almost feel like you’re in a movie. On days when reflections off the sapphire blue sea can almost be blinding, the scene at Nerano Bay becomes the absolutely unique backdrop for the Mellino family’s restaurant, perched on the rocks above. This area is a major tourist destination in spring and summer, and the clientele is definitely cosmopolitan – but strictly Italian is spoken in the kitchen. Each dish is a tribute to the richness of local tastes, mostly from the coast, although you’ll also be treated to a host of top-of-the-line produce from the Campania hinterland. Chef Mellino relies on small producers for brightly colored veggies, intensely fragrant and juicy citrus fruit, and an onslaught of aroma and goodness from extra virgin olive oil, fresh fish and bread. Quattro Passi is prevalently known for its stunningly genuine seafood, which is served with great care and class. We suggest booking an overnight stay in one of the elegant suites. Before dinner, cool off with a cocktail on the terrace, and the next morning awake to sheer enchantment.
