Don Alfonso 1890

The Iaccarino Family

Located in the hamlet of Sant’Agata dei Due Golfi, on the tiny strip of land between the gulfs of Naples and Salerno, Don Alfonso 1890 is a destination in and of itself. It’s so unique and complete in terms of geography and identity, that once you’ve reached it, there’s really no need to go any further. The setting is so moving that to set foot here is to change your life forever. It was no coincidence that Alfonso Iaccarino chose this site to open the restaurant that would make him famous. This establishment is a celebration of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi Coast and the food-and-wine heritage that thrives here. Today, Alfonso’s son Ernesto and the rest of the family run the restaurant, the small boutique hotel and their estate known as Le Peracciole, the beating heart of the Iaccarinos’ exploits. Every day on the farm, fruit, vegetables, and cultivated and wild Mediterranean herbs are harvested and used to stoke the restaurant’s fabulous menu, testimony to the biodiversity and richness of southern Italy. Here you’ll find the harmony you’ve been searching for. Spend a couple days here to get back to nature and in touch with the land, as you take part in a food experience that is utterly genuine and exploding with taste, and pulls no punches. Wine lovers will thrill to the charms of the cellar, which guests are welcome to visit. It contains some 25,000 bottles. There’s also a special underground area for the aging of cheeses.
