The Spadone Family

La Bandiera was born when chef Anna D’Andrea returned to Civitella Casanova, in the hills outside Pescara, after twenty years’ training in Rome, and converted an old tobacco shop into a family trattoria. Marcello Spadone followed in his mother’s path and continues her journey in the name of a profound bond with tradition and nature. For the Spadone family, it’s always been about sustainability, respecting local resources and bringing out their best. Indeed, since the 1980s they have been the leading gastronomic force in the region of Abruzzo. Marcello’s wife Bruna tends the vegetable garden, which is just steps from the kitchen, providing him and their son Mattia, who works alongside his father, with extraordinary fresh produce the whole year round. Awaiting you are dishes buttressed by straightforward, sharply defined intuition, that smack of the surroundings, in sync with the seasons. Look forward to intense coherence in match-ups, cooking styles and consistency. Mattia’s brother Alessio is in charge of the wine list. The emphasis is on excellent selections from local producers, without excluding great wines from the world.
